Vote For Mark Voss in the Special Election on Tuesday, August 13th

Why I’m Running for Ramsey County Commissioner

I am running for Ramsey County Commissioner to be a voice for the middle class, to provide a common sense approach to the issues facing the northern suburbs, and to make sure Ramsey County is focused on helping everyone in our community thrive.

As your County Commissioner, I will bring my personal, family, community, and work experience to the County Board. I will be your representative and advocate for working hand-in-hand with community members, our City Councils, nonprofits, and civic organizations.

As a proud union member and as someone married to a police officer I can provide a different perspective on the challenges facing and opportunities available to families in Ramsey County.

County government has an important role to play in the quality of life in our communities. As your Commissioner I will work to expand career pathways to help people find jobs that pay a livable wage, be an advocate for affordable housing, and work to move responsible development at Rice Creek Commons forward.

I believe everyone in Ramsey County should feel safe, welcome, included, and valued, no matter the color of their skin, religious beliefs, heritage, how they identify, or who they want to marry.

Get to Know Mark

I am married to Tina Voss who is a 17 year veteran of the Oakdale Police Department. We live in White Bear Township with our two wonderful children, Gabe who is 11 and Micah who is 8.

I was brought up in Oakdale with parents who were dedicated to our community. My father’s hard work as a school teacher and my mother’s dedication to her work as a speech and language pathologist – both for ISD 622 – instilled in me at a young age that our community is only as good as the time and energy we invest in it.

I am a card-carrying union member from the building trades and I deeply believe that elected officials should put the communities they serve before their political parties.

As a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 10, my career took off after finishing my apprenticeship and earning a Master license in warm air and ventilation.

I truly enjoy the work I do and think it’s important that we remember there are many paths to a successful career.

Responsible Development of Rice Creek Commons

It’s time for us to come together and start redeveloping Rice Creek Commons.

This is a once in a generation opportunity for us to shape the North Metro for years to come, expand the County’s tax base, and provide a range of housing options.

Expand Career Path Development

For too long we have been telling our youth that the only path to a prosperous future is a four-year degree.

Having built his career in the building trades, Mark is an advocate for creating multiple career paths that help people find jobs that pay a livable wage.

He believes our goal as a community should be supporting multiple career options that help people find the right path for them.

Affordable Housing Options

One of the great challenges facing Ramsey County and Minnesota as a whole is making sure there is enough housing available for people to have a decent place to live whether they own or rent their home.

Whether someone is a young college graduate, just starting a family, or is a senior on a fixed income for Ramsey County to thrive it needs to have a mix of affordable housing options.
